Advocacy

  • Serve as a liaison between the district’s leadership and the organization. Engage senior leadership, gain their support, and establish an open and honest working relationship while representing the interests of the organization.
  • Engage in frequent check-in with the different administrative stakeholder groups to understand the current reality and needs of members.
  • Leverage the work of the organization with the interests of FASA. Network with others in the similar role to learn and share information, common issues, solutions, and priorities.
  • Advocate for the shared needs of administrators (i.e. salaries, benefits, support, legislative initiatives) while staying informed on industry standards.
  • Have a deep knowledge of the legislative process.
  • Identify issues that impact the organization’s members.
  • Coordinates and executes the gathering of feedback from members of the organization to address concerns.
  • Organize meetings of the organization’s boards. Develop agendas that keep board members focused on the key priorities.
  • Be an advisor, mediator, and intermediary for the organization’s boards.
  • Engage in ongoing discussions with local legislators around education policies, and address the concerns of the organization with them.
  • Organize and participate in annual trips to Tallahassee during the legislative session.
  • Partner with the Communication & Government Relations Liaison to determine legislative priorities.
  • Educate members on legislative issues and how they impact our profession.
  • Provide opportunities for members to hear from speakers (i.e. district, government, community and business leaders).
  • Coordinate monthly updates to stakeholder groups (principal meetings, assistant principal meetings, district department meetings) and ensure advisory board has common talking points to share for consistency.

 Service

  • Actively participate in the organization’s events and service projects as the director and on the behalf of the organization.
  • Assist the organization with strategic planning and the coordination of events and service projects.
  • Build connections with community members and organizations that support schools.
  • Identify organizations and groups involved with the school system who could benefit from the organization’s service projects. Facilitate support cycles that positively impact our district.
  • Secures commitments from members for service projects and tracks their hours.

Support

  • Provide opportunities for all members to directly communicate with the director. Be accessible to meet member needs.
  • Facilitate opportunities for members to network and collaborate.
  • Provide consultation on effective leadership as it relates to the district’s priorities and the leadership standards.
  • Assist the district with ways to support and retain administrators.
  • Guide members in addressing legal requirements and constraints.

Min Qualifications:

  • Master of Education

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Florida Teacher Certificate, 3 years administrative experience as Director/Principal or higher position(s)
  • Former Pasco Administrator or Surrounding County Administrator
