To be a Pasco County School Safety Guard, in any capacity, you must be certified as a Safe-School Guardian. This job advertisement is to fill positions in the Pasco County Sheriff's Office ARGUS academy to obtain certification as a Safe-School Guardian. And, upon successful completion of the academy, applicants may be offered a position for anticipated full time vacancies and/or Substitute School Safety Guard positions in the 2025-2026 school year.

 

It is anticipated that there will be a need for multiple full-time School Safety Guards as well as substitute School Safety Guard positions during the school year. Substitute School Safety Guard positions are an on-call, as needed position at any elementary school in the county and not full-time positions.

 

 

Pasco Sheriff’s Office Argus Academy:

The academy is conducted by the Pasco Sheriff’s Office and will consist of a total of 172 paid training hours.  The academy will be:

 

 

Academy training days are typically Monday through Saturday (8 am to 8 pm). Academy hours and days may vary depending on training needs. To successfully complete this academy, all training days must be attended in full. There are no make-up dates and no guarantee which academy class an applicant will be assigned to.


This training will prepare you for the responsibility for performing a variety of duties related to protecting students, school staff, visitors, equipment, facilities, and grounds, under the supervision of site administrator or designee and the Chief of Safety and Emergency Operations.
